My Musical Journey
I started learning the piano at the age of five, I just loved playing and still do. As well as studying classical piano I listened to anything and everything and was lucky enough to be taught by Jazz pianist Duncan Swift (pianist with Kenny Ball's band).
I studied piano at Birmingham conservatoire, with Mark Racz and Philip Martin and composition with Andrew Downes. Subsequently I did further piano studies with Norman Beedie at Guildhall.
In my working life I have taught music in secondary schools, being Head of Music at various schools in London. I have also taught in Devon and Yorkshire and have had an ongoing musical career which has primarily focused on teaching the piano as well as giving solo piano recitals, performing with instrumentalists and singers in a variety of Jazz and Pop bands and working as a composer's personal assistant (Robert Boyle).
